When it comes to decor, I always have a specific idea in my head of what I want. Creativity is never a problem for me. Making it happen on the other hand, is where I often struggle. I immediately knew I wanted to have a gray, aqua and white nursery, regardless if the baby was a boy or girl. I scoured the Internet looking for inspiration for months… and then I finally found it on Project Nursery.
It sounds funny, but I didn’t want anything babyish in the nursery. I wanted modern patterns and bold colors. The inspiration room was almost exactly what I envisioned.
Finding bedding to match my color scheme proved to be challenging. But, eventually I settled on the Dandelion Collection from Carousel Designs.
My favorite part of this collection is the crib skirt, I love the chevron pattern and clean lines. I was able to get fabric samples from Carousel and it just so happened that the paint used in the inspiration nursery was the exact color aqua in the fabric.
I left the painting up to my husband. He used the Behr paint & primer and it covered well with two coats, with the exception of the white, which needed three. If you’re going to attempt this, Frog tape is a must.
Here is the mostly finished room…
Now that Hallie is 17 months, we need to move those animal prints out of her reach. She loves to try to knock them off the wall. We plan to move them above her crib and hang her name in scrabble letters above the dresser. It’s funny because I was so excited about those scrabble letters, but they never made it up on the wall. I think we need to figure out a way to attach them all together first. There’s no way we’d be able to hang six tiles and have them be perfectly straight. We’re just not that talented. Any suggestions?
